KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Southern (KCS) (NYSE:KSU) today reported that its Mexican
subsidiary, Kansas City Southern de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) has
worked throughout the weekend on the Anahuac Bridge and re-opened the
bridge at 5:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 24. KCSM began running trains on
the re-opened line immediately.
If there is no settlement resulting from trains operating over the
bridges approaches, KCSM expects to operate up to 25 to 30 trains over
the Nuevo Laredo gateway by late Monday night, and plans to remove all
service embargos that were established on July 3 in the aftermath of
Hurricane Alex at that time.
We are very pleased to have the Nuevo Laredo gateway opened again for
cross border traffic, said KCS president and chief operating officer
Dave Starling. Given the magnitude of the damage to this bridge,
coupled with the difficult conditions under which our crews had to work,
it is a great accomplishment that we were able to put the Anahuac Bridge
back into service this weekend and plan to lift the embargos tomorrow
night.
Rail service in northern Mexico was disrupted for all carriers as a
result of Hurricane Alex, which made landfall in northeast Mexico on
June 30. Highway infrastructure throughout northern Mexico also was
severely damaged. The hurricane caused significant track damage around
the Monterrey and Saltillo areas as well as on the lines to Nuevo Laredo
and Matamoros.
The disruption of service caused by Hurricane Alex has been very
significant; however, our team has worked very hard to restore service
to our customers as quickly as possible, said KCSM president and
executive representative Jose Zozaya. We will continue to work very
closely with each of our customers to resume the normal flow of traffic
to their facilities.
For further service status updates, please refer to the KCS Recent News
window on the home page of www.kcsouthern.com.
Headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., KCS is a transportation holding
company that has railroad investments in the U.S., Mexico and Panama.
Its primary U.S. holding is The Kansas City Southern Railway Company,
serving the central and south central U.S. Its international holdings
include KCSM, serving northeastern and central Mexico and the port
cities of Lzaro Crdenas, Tampico and Veracruz, and a 50 percent
interest in Panama Canal Railway Company, providing ocean-to-ocean
freight and passenger service along the Panama Canal. Kansas City
Southern’s North American rail holdings and strategic alliances are
primary components of a NAFTA Railway system, linking the commercial and
industrial centers of the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

Two-goal Slack seals it
0 Comments | Nottingham Evening Post, Nov 9, 2009
CARLTON Town had a fine 4-1 home win over Witton Albion in front of a crowd of only 85.
Carlton, eighth in Division One South, had to wait 13 minutes for their first chance on goal, Swinscoe’s effort just clearing the bar.
Witton responded with Steve Foster shooting over when he had time to hit the target.
Witton’s Carl Ruffer was booked for bringing down Danny Blair outside the 18-yard box and the resulting free-kick from Blair was brilliantly saved by Joe Clegg.
But it led to Carlton taking the lead. Dean Gent’s corner fell to Grant Brindley who, with his back to goal, managed to turn and force the ball home.
Clegg was injured in the process and had to be replaced by sub Brian Pritchard. Clegg was taken to the QMC with concussion but was later released.
Karl Slack caught Witton’s defence square when put through by Blair but his lob over Pritchard went just wide.
Brindley then gave Carlton a two-goal cushion with half-time approaching. Pritchard tried to punch away a high ball into the box and Brindley beat him with a looping header.
Slack then made it three on the stroke of half-time

After Las Vegas, a Bellagio to come to Bandra?
0 Comments | DNA : Daily News & Analysis; Mumbai, Jun 18, 2010 | by Tiwari, Ashish K
Travellers to Las Vegas never miss it on the famed Strip. Especially the stunning water fountain show that’s on outside the swish, marquee The Bellagio hotel, every half an hour. Now, get this. MGM Mirage, the US-based hospitality and gaming giant, is likely to set up another Bellagio – at the Bandra-Kurla Complex.
Industry sources said MGM Mirage has negotiated a management contract with the special purpose vehicle (SPV) floated by the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Group and Mumbai-based realtor Maker Builders. “A letter of intent (LoI) has already been executed with the leading international hotel operator for operating one of the two proposed hotels,” said the source. Neither Maker Builders nor Reliance officials were available for comment.
Rishi Kapoor, vice president-development, India, MGM Mirage Hospitality, said, “We haven’t signed anything at the moment,” in a text message.
The hotel will be part of the integrated mix-use development – Maker Maxity – planned by the SPV on the erstwhile drive-in theatre site in Bandra (East) which currently houses commercial developments. The total development has a saleable area of 19 lakh square feet and will feature commercial, retail, entertainment and hospitality developments.
Sources said the Maker Maxity development will house two luxury hotels which will be managed by leading international hotel management companies

For example, if one is going to an NFL football game in the North, they should wear warm clothing and make it waterproof if snow or rain is a factor and the stadium is outdoors. On the other hand, one who goes to a Miami Dolphins game should dress comfortably in clothing which they will stay cool wearing.
Tailgating Items
Tailgating is a great pastime to take advantage of when going to an NFL game. This entails gathering in the stadium parking lot, chatting with other fans and eating some great tailgating food. One who is going to tailgate prior to the game should bring a cooler, food, beverages and any items necessary to cook their food. Many stadiums allow individuals to use portable grills in the parking lots which makes tailgating that much better.
Cash for Souvenirs and Food Inside the Stadium
Lastly, an individual who is going to an NFL game should make sure that they have enough cash on hand to buy certain items during the game.

Don?t look here and there, or listen to other sounds in the room to distract your attention. If your mind starts wandering bring it back immediately and try to concentrate on what is being said.
Sometimes people want to empty their hearts out in front of a trustworthy person. If that person is you then sincerely listen to what they have to say and give advice after analyzing the whole matter. Don?t interrupt them while they are speaking and keep a straight face throughout the conversation. Nod frequently while listening to the other person to let them know that you are actually listening and not thinking something else.

Railway restoration project is recognised
0 Comments | Buxton Advertiser (Buxton, England), July 22, 2010
The project, by DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd, has been highly commended in the heritage category of Network Rail’s Partnership Awards, which were held in Birmingham last week.
The restoration project on the prominent Buxton landmark took place last summer, managed by DB Schenker with local firm Buxton Building Supplies, supported by the Railway Heritage Trust.
Work involved removing all the remaining glass, rubbing down the existing metal frame, repainting the frame and installing new toughened glass.
David Litherland, Project Manager for DB Schenker, said: “We are honoured that the restoration work on the fan window has been highly commended at Network Rail’s Partnership Awards. This impressive icon stands at the heart of the community, providing a striking welcome to visitors using the train station.”
Tony Kemp, Executive Councillor for Regeneration at High Peak Borough Council, said he was delighted that the quality of the restoration had been recognised officially.
“As a local authority, we’re investing heavily in Buxton as a destination of major importance to the regional economy,” he added
