Travellers to Las Vegas never miss it on the famed Strip. Especially the stunning water fountain show that’s on outside the swish, marquee The Bellagio hotel, every half an hour. Now, get this. MGM Mirage, the US-based hospitality and gaming giant, is likely to set up another Bellagio – at the Bandra-Kurla Complex.
Industry sources said MGM Mirage has negotiated a management contract with the special purpose vehicle (SPV) floated by the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Group and Mumbai-based realtor Maker Builders. “A letter of intent (LoI) has already been executed with the leading international hotel operator for operating one of the two proposed hotels,” said the source. Neither Maker Builders nor Reliance officials were available for comment.
Rishi Kapoor, vice president-development, India, MGM Mirage Hospitality, said, “We haven’t signed anything at the moment,” in a text message.
The hotel will be part of the integrated mix-use development – Maker Maxity – planned by the SPV on the erstwhile drive-in theatre site in Bandra (East) which currently houses commercial developments. The total development has a saleable area of 19 lakh square feet and will feature commercial, retail, entertainment and hospitality developments.
Sources said the Maker Maxity development will house two luxury hotels which will be managed by leading international hotel management companies
