Two-goal Slack seals it

CARLTON Town had a fine 4-1 home win over Witton Albion in front of a crowd of only 85.
Carlton, eighth in Division One South, had to wait 13 minutes for their first chance on goal, Swinscoe’s effort just clearing the bar.
Witton responded with Steve Foster shooting over when he had time to hit the target.
Witton’s Carl Ruffer was booked for bringing down Danny Blair outside the 18-yard box and the resulting free-kick from Blair was brilliantly saved by Joe Clegg.
But it led to Carlton taking the lead. Dean Gent’s corner fell to Grant Brindley who, with his back to goal, managed to turn and force the ball home.
Clegg was injured in the process and had to be replaced by sub Brian Pritchard. Clegg was taken to the QMC with concussion but was later released.
Karl Slack caught Witton’s defence square when put through by Blair but his lob over Pritchard went just wide.
Brindley then gave Carlton a two-goal cushion with half-time approaching. Pritchard tried to punch away a high ball into the box and Brindley beat him with a looping header.
Slack then made it three on the stroke of half-time
